[Philippines] GOOD NEWS CORPS VOLUNTEER WORKSHOP ( REPORT) June 03, 2010 author GNN view 362 2010 GOOD NEWS WORKSHOP REPORT IYF PHILIPPINES After the victorious 2010 IYF World Camp Philippines at the Cuneta Astrodome and 3rd Korean Camp at IYF Center, the next activity was the Good News Corps Workshop held at IYF Center Fairview, Philippines from May 24 to 27 of this year. Good News Corps is a unique program of International Youth Fellowship that only provides a venue for the first hand experience of foreign cultures but also offers authentic opportunities to help others and implant the heart of God in those with little or no hope. Recently, many students joined the workshop expecting that this event can give them a memorable life overseas through a diverse multi-component program that trains the mind, body and most importantly, spirit. They have the desire to exchange their youth for the hearts of others. During the 4day workshop, participants freely interact through fellowships, they discovered how to share and open their hearts. At first, they have many questions, doubts and fears inside their heart but little by little as we show them some video presentations and explain to them the deep meaning of GNC, they gain more heart of wanting to experience a memorable life overseas. They were given a time to read the new testament of the bible and explain to them clearly how to preach the gospel because this is one of the important weapon of the GNC on the journey, to spread the precious gospel of Jesus to those people who are still living in darkness. One of the trainings is doing a household chores, wash the dishes, wipe the tables, swept the floor, pump the water, etc. because when they live in their host country they also need to be clean, neat and organize. This is like our heart, to enter in the kingdom of God we need to be changed from our dirty ways to a pure and a radiant heart. One of the activities that made the participants more knowledgeable about the Good News Corp (GNC) program is through the mini-culture. Some of the Philippine GNC who went to other countries particularly Thailand & Vietnam set up a booth to showcase the culture, language, food, beautiful places of their host country before, and most especially their experiences. Also, the in-house GNC from Korea and China showcase their countries and encourage the participants to choose their home country. Video clips, testimonies and Trs dance academy add up joy and excitement to all participants. They are inspired and motivated when Ptr. Nam Ha Young shared his testimony. He was a 4th batch GNC of Costa Rica and presently a missionary Pastor of Australia. He was delighted and enjoyed the place of Costa Rica but later on there are difficulties occurred that made his heart full of complains. The food, language and the labor he put into during the construction of IYF Center in that place, made his heart uncomfortable. He shared Luke 16:1-13 about the story of the rich man and his steward, “The important thing is to please the heart of the master and do the things that will please him. You have to do things because you have the heart of God not because you wanted to please people or yourself and its good in your eyes or feelings. “He states. The reason why he had many complains it’s because he doesn’t know the heart of his master Jesus, all along he was doing his own thing that made him happy but when his heart reach the limitations his true heart prevailed. He actually doesn’t know the heart and will of his master. But besides all these Ptr. Nam Kyung Hyun President of IYF Philippines imparts the Gen. 12:1-3 on the first day 1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. It’s about Abraham’s faith and promise of God came to him. How he accepts it and follows God’s voice. Faith is really important, many people think that having faith is difficult but actually faith is easy. In Hebrews 11:8 “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going”. When the word of God came to us and if we believe this word even though it is totally different from our thoughts this is exactly what faith is. “If you want to become GNC, like in this verse God will lead or guide you in wherever you go” he added. The workshop ended by giving out the certificate of attendance and awarded those 5 persons who got the highest score during the bible quiz with new KJV Bible. And Ptr. Nam Kyung Hyun sowed the heart of the participants before the workshop ends with these words “You are a “Blessing” so share it to others and they will be blessed as well through you. At your age, if you will be steadfast you will have a blessed life.” All the participants leave the center with bright smile and a new level of Faith. And with hope in their hearts that they can do all things because of Christ and everything will be fine if they become GNC in the country or place which they don’t even know. To God Be the Glory!
